James R. MatthewsPrincipal
James R. Matthews is a Principal of Stone Point. He joined Stone Point in 2011 from Evercore Partners, where he was a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Private Equity. From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Matthews was with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, where he was a General Partner and focused on investments in the information services and business services sectors. Previously, Mr. Matthews was a General Partner of J.H. Whitney & Co. and started his career as an Analyst in the mergers and acquisitions group of Salomon Brothers Inc. Mr. Matthews is a director of Bollinger, Inc., Frenkel & Company and TestEquity LLC, and he is a former director of Fidelity Sedgwick Holdings, Inc., Ruesch International Inc. and Headstrong Inc. He holds a B.S. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
